History and Oppression

While I have become built a more significant knowledge base from being in the social work field, I believe that cultural humility and coninuing education are vital pieces of practice as social workers. The images here were taken by me, of a Nelson Mendela exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

These images and their descriptors depict the oppression that Nelson Mendela and other black people faced in apartheid. These pictures depict the hardships faced by Nelson Mendela and are a reminder of the advocacy work that he did in order to produce historic change for Black people in his community.

Impact Analysis & Key Insights

Future Implications: Moving forward, I plan to continue building knowledge and finding ways to advocate for oppressed individuals and communities. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals and communities who have been historically oppressed to gain their voices back and to be able to have spaces in public arenas to utilize them to advocate for changes they want to see in their community.
